  • It was reduced from two days to one day excluding the day of journey from the train originating station.
  • Tatkal booking opens at 8 AM on One days in advance actual date of journey excluding date of journey. For example, if a train depart from the originating station on 2nd January, the tatkal quota for that train will open at 8 am on 1st January.
Travelling in group
  • If you are travelling in group, identity for any one passenger is enough.
  • Get the ticket in the name of person who is certain to travel in the group. Because, if the passenger whose identity card number is indicated in the ticket is not travelling, all other passengers on that ticket will not be able to travel. They will be treated as travelling without ticket and charged accordingly. So be careful while selecting a person on whose name you are going to book the ticket.
  • If you don’t know which person will certainly travel give proofs of identity of more than one passenger. During the journey, even if anyone passenger produces the original identity card indicated on the ticket as well as reservation chart, all the passengers can undertake the journey.
  • You can book only for four passengers in one tatkal ticket. In the normal ticket you can book for six passengers but as per new rules you can book only for four passengers.
Production of identity proof during travel
  • Don’t forget to take along with you the original of the identity proof you used to book the ticket.
  • If you are travelling in group, make sure that the passenger whose identity card number indicated in the ticket, carries the original identity proof used for booking.
